The Community Foundation Alliance is a network of nine Community Foundation affiliates serving counties throughout southwestern Indiana. The Alliance provides management, administrative, and development expertise to our local affiliate community foundations, empowering each to promote philanthropy, build endowment, and improve wellbeing in our local communities.
The Community Foundation Alliance was established to create a regional structure serving southwestern Indiana, enhancing centralized administration, governance, and service provision to local communities through the creation of named Foundation funds. This efficient model fosters community improvement by establishing County Advisory Boards which concentrate on asset development, understanding local charitable needs, and managing grants and scholarships. Funded by the generous contributions of individuals, families, businesses, and civic groups, the Alliance has grown to manage over 1,200 named funds, boasting charitable assets exceeding $100 million and awarding $3,323,968 in grants and scholarships in the fiscal year 2019 across nine affiliate counties. The Spencer County Community Foundation's Community Good Grants Program, specific to Spencer County and established in 1996, supports various charitable activities year-round, following categories such as Arts and Culture, Community Development, Education, Health, Human Services, and other civic endeavors like Environment, Recreation, and Youth Development. Grant request levels range from under $500 to requests over $10,000, with a year-round open cycle to accommodate funding requests at any time, ensuring flexible support for Spencer County's charitable organizations and community projects.
