The mission of the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration is to improve the quality of life and care for nursing home residents by using federal Civil Money Penalty (CMP) funds. These funds support innovative initiatives that exceed minimum care standards and promote better care and living conditions in long-term care facilities.
The grant program aims to fund innovative projects that directly enhance the quality of life or care of nursing home residents. Specifically, it supports efforts that represent a new approach within a facility, statewide, or in the broader long-term care context. The use of CMP funds is diverse, including aid for residents when a facility closes, support for relocation efforts, enhancement of resident and family council functions, facility improvement initiatives, staff and surveyor joint training, technical assistance for quality improvement programs, quality of care training, and activities that foster social interaction, movement, and reduce loneliness, as well as in-person visitation aids. These initiatives demonstrate a broad commitment to enhancing the living conditions and care received by nursing home residents.
