Beyond Open is a competitive small business grant program aimed at fostering economic mobility within Charlotte’s Corridors of Opportunity, specifically targeting diverse small businesses. The program allows business owners to invest in capital assets such as equipment, technology, inventory, and real estate, with the advantage that these grants do not need to be repaid. A total of $15 million will be distributed over three rounds, with more than 150 grants ranging from $10,000 to $150,000 awarded in the second round alone. Beyond Open emphasizes the importance of not adding financial debt to the recipients' burdens while possibly impacting their tax obligations.
