The Georgia Foundation for Public Education (GFPE) is committed to supporting educational excellence for students in Georgia. Its mission is to offer simple ways for donors to impactfully serve students in Georgia's K-12 public school system by investing in projects and fostering donor relationships. GFPE aims to fund its vision of public school excellence, creating a better future for the 1.7 million students in Georgia's public schools.
The Innovative Education Fund Grant Program aims to provide opportunities for organizations to implement innovative educational programs that improve outcomes for Georgia students. Eligible applicants include traditional public and charter schools, school districts, and nonprofit organizations partnered with public schools and districts. These entities can apply for grants ranging from $1,000 to $25,000 to either implement or scale innovative projects that deeply engage students. Innovative programs are defined by GFPE as those targeting the root cause of a problem in an inventive way, inclusive, disruptive and transformative, contextualized, collaborative, and represent a breakthrough approach. The grant currently encompasses three specific programs: Innovation Mini Grants, Innovating Education Prototype Grant, and Innovating Education Expansion Grant, each designed to support projects at various stages of development and implementation. Examples of fundable projects include virtual reality headsets that support literacy, tiny house engineering projects, and after-school STEM Club programming with field trips.
