The mission focuses on addressing community needs across Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, and Leelanau counties. Through a variety of endowments, they aim to support philanthropic approaches to meeting basic needs, promoting self-sufficiency, and helping individuals achieve independence across these regions.
The grant program focuses on nutrition and obesity issues, particularly in school-aged children. It accepts applications annually each Fall, giving priority to creative, evidence-based proposals linked with MSUE Resources. The program aims to educate students and families on healthy choices for snacks and meals, understanding nutritional content, food preparation and preservation, and the importance of physical activity. It supports programs aligned with the values of Home Economics, now known as Family and Consumer Sciences, covering a wide range of expertise such as safe food handling, nutrition, parenting skills, household management, consumer buying, and leadership skills.
