The mission of The Greenwall Foundation is to support the innovative and practical integration of bioethics into policy, aiming to bridge the divide between bioethics research results and policymaking. The Foundation focuses on addressing complex ethical dilemmas arising from rapid developments in healthcare, science, and technology, to advance health and well-being through a strengthened relationship between bioethics and policy.
The Greenwall Faculty Scholars Program in Bioethics is a career development award specifically designed for junior faculty members. Its main goal is to support innovative research in bioethics that goes beyond the current scope to address pressing ethical dilemmas in clinical, biomedical, and public health contexts. The program annually selects about three scholars to receive 50 percent salary support for three years, facilitating their specific research proposals and aiding the development of their research programs. Additionally, the program fosters a community through biannual meetings, feedback sessions, mentoring, and collaboration opportunities. It also includes professional development through a philosophical bioethics seminar series for first-year Scholars and continuous engagement for Alumni/ae in mentoring and professional growth. The funding covers 50 percent of a Scholar's salary plus benefits (up to the NIH cap) along with $5,000 yearly for project support and travel, aiming to dedicate half of the Scholar's time to bioethics research.
