LCBP: Large Education and Outreach Project Grants

    From Lake Champlain Basin Program

The Lake Champlain Basin Program (LCBP) focuses on the restoration and protection of Lake Champlain and its surrounding watershed. It collaborates with partners in New York, Vermont, and Québec to tackle phosphorus pollution, toxic substances, biodiversity, aquatic invasive species, and climate change. The program also oversees the Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership, aiming to foster appreciation and better stewardship of the region’s cultural resources by highlighting and promoting its history.

    Overview

Since 1992, the LCBP has supported over 1,000 grants to help local organizations undertake pollution prevention, habitat restoration, and various projects to enhance the Lake Champlain quality. These efforts extend to projects by universities, consultants, research foundations, nonprofit organizations, and others, focusing on scientific research, best management practices, education, and outreach. A key aspect of these initiatives is their contribution to the "Opportunities for Action" plan, a comprehensive strategy to steward the watershed. Specifically, the Large Education and Outreach Project Grants target substantial educational initiatives aiming to further the goals outlined in this strategic plan.
