The Marine Biological Laboratory aims to advance biological discovery by convening researchers globally for research and education, focusing on a wide array of biological disciplines, particularly those that leverage marine organisms.
The grant supports scientists to conduct research at the Marine Biological Laboratory for 4 to 10 weeks throughout the year. It encourages applications especially in evolutionary, genetic, and genomic approaches to biology; integrated imaging and computational biology; research on microbial communities and marine organisms; and studies on global change and ecosystem ecology. The Fellowship is open to all scientists, covering costs for laboratory rental and housing. Special funding is designated for Early Career Fellows, within 10 years of their PhD, and E.E. Just Fellows, from under-represented groups or those teaching at minority-serving institutions, with additional support for a student trainee and laboratory supplies.
