The Martha Holden Jennings Foundation aims to enhance the growth of young individuals within Ohio’s non-religious primary and secondary education settings, and to elevate the teaching profession through inspiring creativity in instruction and amplifying teachers’ achievements.
The Jennings Grants Program awards grants for projects focusing on either DEEP LEARNING or EXCELLENT TEACHING. DEEP LEARNING projects involve direct engagement with public school students, promoting content acquisition and skill application through comprehensive learning processes, and fostering diverse cognitive activities leading to demonstrable outcomes. EXCELLENT TEACHING projects focus on professional development for teachers, emphasizing guided learning, coaching, collaboration, and reflective practices aimed at improving various aspects of teaching proficiency. The Open Grant program seeks to make a lasting positive impact on student learning and teaching across Ohio, open to public school districts, non-religious private schools, or non-profits working with public schools in Ohio, with funding approved for one year.
