    The mission of the funder is to support the efforts of state and local REALTOR Associations in advancing programs, policies, and initiatives that promote sustainable and inclusive community growth. This is accomplished through the alignment with the Smart Growth Network's 10 principles, focusing on creating and maintaining great neighborhoods by encouraging diverse land uses, compact design, a variety of housing options, walkability, distinctive communities, preservation of natural lands, development within existing areas, multiple transportation options, fair development decisions, and community collaboration.

    Overview

    The Smart Growth Grants program offers three levels of financial support to state and local REALTOR Associations for initiatives that align with the Smart Growth Principles. These include:

    • Level 1: Grants up to $3,000 for educational efforts on smart growth topics, such as classes, forums, or meetings with stakeholders to promote coalition efforts.
    • Level 2: Grants up to $7,500 for engaging in local land-use, growth, and transportation issues, which includes planning and input sessions, development of comprehensive plans and zoning policies, and conducting studies or research.
    • Level 3: Grants up to $15,000 for comprehensive initiatives that have a long-term impact on a community, requiring significant involvement from REALTORS®, public, and private stakeholders.
