    Overview

The Five Star and Urban Waters Restoration grant program is designed to foster community stewardship of local natural resources through modest financial assistance. It focuses on improving water quality, watersheds, and the species and habitats they support by encouraging diverse local partnerships. The grant supports projects involving ecological improvements such as wetland, riparian, forest, and coastal habitat restoration, wildlife conservation, community tree canopy enhancement, urban agriculture, community gardens, water quality monitoring, and green infrastructure practices. A significant aim of the program is to increase nature access, reduce environmental hazards, and actively involve particularly underserved communities in project planning, outreach, and implementation, ensuring a balanced representation of urban and rural communities.
