The grant program operated by The Trust serves the metropolitan area of New York, encompassing New York City and Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester counties. It awards competitive grants funded largely through donor bequests and wills, aimed at projects that improve New Yorkers' lives. Specific areas of support include delivering efficient and equitable health and behavioral health services, enhancing the skills and independence of older adults, the blind or visually impaired, children and youth with disabilities, and those with developmental disabilities. Additionally, the program funds biomedical research and initiatives promoting animal welfare, with a particular goal towards the humane treatment and medical care of animals.
