The mission is to improve the overall quality of life and care for nursing facility residents through the reinvestment of civil money penalties. These penalties are collected from nursing facilities that fail to meet federal health and safety standards. The fund supports projects that enhance care and resident life in skilled nursing facilities, nursing facilities, and dually certified facilities.
The Oklahoma State Department of Health Civil Money Penalty Fund Program aims to support initiatives that significantly enhance care for residents and patients in nursing homes, including skilled nursing facilities (SNF), nursing facilities (NF), and dually certified facilities (SNF/NF). The program encourages grant applications for projects that develop and implement quality improvement initiatives that benefit nursing facility residents both directly and indirectly. Acceptable projects must be outside normal facility operations and demonstrate evidence-based practices that promote quality of care and life. Allowable uses for CMP funds include assistance for residents in facilities that close, support for quality improvement activities, training to enhance care, and technology for resident communication and social interaction.
