The society envisions a new era of oligonucleotide drugs that vastly impacts therapeutic modalities, much like antibodies have revolutionized human therapeutics.

    The Dr. Alan M. Gewirtz Memorial Scholarships support emerging scientists in the field of oligonucleotide therapeutics, in honor of Dr. Gewirtz's significant contributions and his role in founding the society. Launched in 2011 and expanded in 2020, the program awards two scholarships annually to new scientists ranging from graduate students to junior professionals. Each scholarship includes a $2,000 USD award, complimentary registration to the OTS Annual Meeting, a formal award presentation, and a short speaking slot at the meeting.
