    Overview

The Dr. Alan M. Gewirtz Memorial Scholarships are aimed at supporting outstanding new scientists and recognizing their contributions in the field of oligonucleotide therapeutics. Established as a tribute to Dr. Gewirtz, a key figure in the development of the society and the field, the scholarships were initiated to honor his memory and work after his passing in 2010. With the growth of the society and the field, a second scholarship was added in 2020 to support new scientists from graduate to junior professional levels. Annually, two awards are given, which include a $2,000 USD award, complimentary registration to the OTS Annual Meeting, a formal presentation at the meeting, and a short talk speaking slot, fostering professional development and visibility in the oligonucleotide therapeutics community.
