    Type of Support

    Overview

The Small Grants for Field Study Projects are designed to support students by reimbursing expenses related to their research projects or small equipment purchases. This grant program focuses on projects within preferred fields of study such as Southern California ornithology, natural science in western Los Angeles County, and policy studies affecting the ecology of the Santa Monica Mountains and adjacent coastal regions. The number of awards and the amount up to $550 each vary annually based on fund availability. Awards are distributed approximately 45 days following the application deadlines, with the possibility of renewed funding for longer-term projects. Applications are accepted year-round and reviewed after each board meeting.
