Save the Redwoods League aims to connect all people with the peace and beauty of redwoods, ensuring equitable access to the natural wonders of these ancient forests. They are committed to fostering connections between communities and nature, enhancing understanding and appreciation of redwood forests' attributes and benefits, and igniting a lifelong stewardship and curiosity about the outdoors among individuals.
The Redwood Connect Grants program is designed to provide equitable access to parks and redwoods, aiming to foster meaningful connections with nature for communities that may not typically have such opportunities. Specifically targeting youth, families, and communities, the program supports projects that deliver inspiring experiences in redwood environments based on community interests and needs. A strong emphasis is placed on serving underrepresented youth, including low-income, indigenous, and young people of color, who face barriers to accessing outdoor spaces. The grants prioritize projects that can be completed by the end of summer 2024, with all awards being $6,000 and an additional Transportation Grant available for schools to fund buses for field trips.
