The Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) Foundation aims to enhance the well-being of employees and the performance of organizations through the science and application of Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
The Joel Lefkowitz Early Career Award is designed to honor early-career professionals in the field of Humanistic Industrial-Organizational Psychology. Eligible candidates are those who have made significant contributions that make organizations safer, fairer, healthier, more challenging, and more fulfilling places to work. This could be through applied projects, research, or theory-building, well-documented across various platforms such as publications, presentations, and project reports. Key contribution areas include worker dignity, economic/social justice, and organizational ethics. The grant looks out for work addressing critical issues like employment ethics, worker rights, workplace safety, supervisory conduct, pay equality, work-life balance, discrimination, and corporate responsibility. Nominees should be within ten years post-defense of their doctoral dissertation, and their professional setting (academia, government, or industry) is not a constraint. Winners of the award receive both a plaque and a $3,000 cash prize.
