The SIOP Humanitarian Award acknowledges profound and lasting humanitarian efforts within the realm of I-O psychology. It supports various contributions, including applying I-O psychology to humanitarian initiatives, enhancing internal capacity, supporting "decent work," policy development, collaborating with NGOs and multilateral agencies, advancing humanitarian work psychology, and contributing to social responsibility and the reduction of human suffering. Additionally, it recognizes efforts towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals via I-O psychology, covering a range of objectives like poverty reduction, health improvement, and climate change combat. The award includes recognition with a plaque and a monetary prize of $1,500.
