The SunPower Foundation is committed to environmental equity, advocating for a future where a livable climate is considered a fundamental human right. It emphasizes the importance of affordable solar energy access and participation in solar economic opportunities to build this future. The foundation is dedicated to correcting systemic inequities that hinder full participation in the clean energy transition by various marginalized identities.
The SunPower Foundation's grant program focuses on three main areas: Solar Accessibility, Affordability, and Resiliency; Workforce Development; and Solar Economic Opportunities. The program aims to deploy affordable or free-of-cost solar solutions to historically underserved communities or those impacted by climate disasters. It seeks to increase access to solar careers, emphasizing support for women, people of color, and other underrepresented identities. Additionally, it supports projects that aid non-profits in delivering technical assistance, coaching, or business accelerator services to Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprises (MWBE) in the solar industry. Grants awarded range from $5,000 to $100,000.
