    Overview

The Texas Longleaf Conservation Assistance Program aims to offer both financial and technical support to eligible landowners for the establishment and management of Longleaf Pine, a species that once extensively covered Southeast Texas and is now the focus of restoration efforts. The program, supported by the Texas Longleaf Implementation Team and funded by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation among others, stresses the importance of restoring and managing Longleaf Pine to its historical range. It prioritizes increasing the Longleaf Pine acres through various conservation practices such as prescribed burning, site preparation, reforestation, and forest stand improvement while offering financial incentives to landowners for fulfilling conservation activities outlined in an approved forest management plan.
