The Texas Sea Grant College Program is committed to advancing the understanding, sustainable use, and stewardship of Texas' coastal and marine resources. This is achieved through integrating research and extension projects that span natural, physical, social, behavioral, economic sciences, and engineering.
The grant program targets research in the following areas: maintaining healthy coastal ecosystems amid diverse stresses, advancing sustainable fisheries and aquaculture to reduce reliance on seafood imports, developing policies and capacities for resilient coastal communities and economies, and boosting STEM literacy and workforce development by supporting educational initiatives. These areas aim to address ecological, economic, and educational challenges along the Gulf Coast.
