The mission of the United Kingdom’s Blue Planet Fund is to support the advancement and research in marine sciences, focusing on funding educational opportunities and research initiatives aimed at understanding and preserving marine ecosystems.
The Ocean Country Partnership Programme (OCPP) Scholarships Mozambique are designed to offer Mozambican students a chance to pursue a fully funded Masters in marine sciences, particularly targeting mid-career scientists who are aiming to contribute to world-class marine-related research. The scholarships support studies in Conservation Biology and Ecology at Universidade Eduardo Mondlane and in Ecology at Universidade Lúrio. Each scholarship covers tuition fees, living allowance, research grant, and accommodates for disability and maternity costs on a case-by-case basis. Scholarship projects may explore various research aspects, including coastal ecosystem mapping, blue carbon potential, marine ecosystem protection and enhancement, climate change impacts, ecosystem economic valuation, pollution impacts, fisheries data science, and aquatic health in aquaculture. These initiatives are aimed at enhancing knowledge and practices towards sustainable marine resource use and conservation in Mozambique.
