The American Heritage Center (AHC) is a public research institution focused on preserving and providing access to collections highlighting the American West from the nineteenth to the twenty-first century. It specializes in military history, popular entertainment, mining and petroleum, environment and natural resources, serving also as the University of Wyoming’s manuscripts repository, rare books library, and university archives. It stands as one of the largest non-governmental repositories in the nation.
The Bernard L. Majewski Fellowship, supported by an endowment from Mrs. Thelma Majewski, aims to provide research support to a recognized scholar in the history of economic geology, facilitating the use of the AHC's archival collections. It supports studies in the exploration and development of petroleum, minerals, and related fields, including history and environmental resources history tied to economic geology. The fellowship offers a $3,000 stipend, requiring the Fellow to reside at the AHC for one month, producing a precis of their research findings and crediting the AHC in any publications derived from the research.
