    Overview

    The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program Phase II is designed for FY 2023 NIST SBIR Phase I awardees, providing them an opportunity to further develop their Phase I projects that show potential for commercialization. This grant program supports innovative small businesses in conducting research and development that meets Federal R&D needs, with a focus on fostering technological innovation, using small businesses to meet federal R&D needs, encouraging participation by disadvantaged and women-owned businesses, and increasing private sector commercialization of R&D innovations. Phase II specifically focuses on R&D or prototype development, with awards up to $400,000 for a 24-month period, aiming at moving promising Phase I projects towards commercialization.
