The Office of Naval Research coordinates, executes and promotes the science and technology programs of the United States Navy and Marine Corps.
The Young Investigator Program (YIP) by the Office of Naval Research aims to support early-career academic scientists and engineers who have shown outstanding promise for conducting creative research. The program is designed for individuals in their first or second full-time tenure-track or tenure-track-equivalent academic appointment, who have earned their PhD or equivalent degree after 01 January 2017. The YIP's goals are to attract brilliant faculty members to the Navy's Science and Technology research program, provide support for their innovative research, and encourage their career development in teaching and research. The program is open to outstanding faculty members of U.S. Institutions of Higher Education and those in U.S. non-profit equivalent positions, focusing on research areas of interest to ONR Program Officers.
