Protecting the health, welfare, and value of our Nation’s plants, animals, and natural resources.
The grant program aims to control and prevent Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) in farmed cervids. It supports the development and/or implementation of CWD surveillance, testing, management, and response activities. Specifically, it allows for the indemnification and removal of CWD-affected and exposed farmed cervid herds as part of a comprehensive CWD management plan, following federal regulations. Approximately $6,050,000 in cooperative agreement funding is anticipated for State departments of agriculture, State animal health agencies, State departments of wildlife or natural resources, Federally recognized Native American Tribal governments and organizations, and research institutions and universities.
