    The Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP) offers financial and technical support to preserve agricultural lands and wetlands, along with their associated benefits. Specifically, the program focuses on Wetland Reserve Easements (WRE), which aid private and tribal landowners in the protection, restoration, and enhancement of wetlands previously affected by agricultural activities. These easements support a variety of ecological and social benefits, including habitat for wildlife, water quality improvement, flood reduction, groundwater recharge, biodiversity protection, climate change resilience, and educational, scientific, and limited recreational opportunities. Enrollment options include permanent easements, 30-year easements, term easements specific to state laws, and 30-year contracts exclusively for Indian tribe-owned lands, with varying levels of financial compensation and restoration cost coverage.
