The Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) is designed to support landowners in their efforts to conserve natural resources and enhance their operations. It offers a custom plan to improve various aspects of an operation, such as grazing conditions, crop resilience, and wildlife habitat. CSP provides financial and technical assistance for implementing conservation practices and activities that contribute to cleaner water and air, healthier soil, and better wildlife habitat, while also improving agricultural operations. Participants receive annual payments for these practices and may opt for "bundles" of enhancements for higher payment rates. The program emphasizes the importance of working lands, aiming to make them more resilient to weather and market changes, reduce the need for agricultural inputs, and improve conditions for wildlife. CSP contracts last for five years, with the possibility of renewal, and include payments for existing and additional conservation efforts.
