From USDA: Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS)

We deliver conservation solutions so agricultural producers can protect natural resources and feed a growing world.

Type of Support

Overview

The Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), managed by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), is designed to assist farmers, ranchers, and forest landowners in integrating conservation practices into their working lands. EQIP offers technical and financial help to address various natural resource concerns, including improving water and air quality, conserving water resources, enhancing soil health, reducing soil erosion, creating wildlife habitats, and mitigating the impacts of drought and weather volatility. The program emphasizes developing customized conservation plans for producers, aiming at achieving a harmonious balance between productive agricultural operations and environmental stewardship. Specific benefits of the program include reduced contamination from agricultural operations, efficient nutrient use, improved soil health alongside climate resilience, and the implementation of climate-smart practices that enhance carbon sequestration and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
