We are committed to helping improve the economy and quality of life in rural America.
The grant program aims to assist eligible communities in preparing for or recovering from emergencies that threaten the availability of safe, reliable drinking water. This includes a variety of events such as droughts, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes or hurricanes, disease outbreaks, chemical spills, leaks, or seepage, and other disasters. A federal disaster declaration is not required to qualify. The program offers two types of grants: Water transmission line grants, with up to $150,000 available for projects like waterline extensions and repairs, and Water source grants, providing up to $1,000,000 to construct facilities for water sources, intakes, or treatment. The overarching goal is to prevent damage or restore access to clean, reliable drinking water in rural areas and towns, thus improving the natural environment and stimulating local economies by encouraging businesses to set up or expand operations in these areas.
Collaboration with entities at the federal, state, and local levels, as well as private and nonprofit organizations, is highly encouraged.
