Emergency Community Water Assistance Grants in Kentucky

    From USDA: Rural Development (RD)

We are committed to helping improve the economy and quality of life in rural America.

    Type of Support

    Overview

The grant program provides financial support to help eligible rural communities prepare for or recover from emergencies that threaten the availability of safe, reliable drinking water. These emergencies can include droughts, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes or hurricanes, disease outbreaks, chemical spills, leaks, or seepage, among other disasters. Importantly, a federal disaster declaration is not necessary to qualify for this program. The program offers two types of funding: water transmission line grants up to $150,000 and water source grants up to $1,000,000. The funds can be used for projects such as constructing waterline extensions, repairing breaks or leaks in water distribution lines, constructing a new water source, intake, or treatment facility, and addressing necessary maintenance to replenish the water supply. This initiative aims to prevent damage or restore access to clean, reliable drinking water in eligible rural areas and towns, thus encouraging economic growth and environmental improvement.
