    Type of Support

    Overview

This grant program aims to assist eligible rural communities in preparing for or recovering from emergencies that threaten the availability of safe, reliable drinking water. It supports a broad range of disasters, including droughts, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes or hurricanes, disease outbreaks, and chemical spills, without requiring a federal disaster declaration. The grant funds can be used for water transmission line projects up to $150,000 and for water source projects up to $1,000,000, including construction of waterlines, repair of existing water distribution lines, and construction of water sources or treatment facilities. The ultimate purpose of this program is to prevent damage to, or restore, clean and reliable drinking water access in rural areas and towns, improve the natural environment, and promote economic development by encouraging businesses to locate or expand in these areas.
