    Overview

The grant program is designed to support small and emerging businesses in rural areas, focusing on those with fewer than 50 employees and less than $1 million in gross revenue. The grants aim to provide technical assistance, training, and support across various areas, including but not limited to: project planning, business counseling, market research, feasibility studies, land development, construction, pollution control, capitalization of revolving loan funds, distance learning, transportation improvement, community economic development, and technology-based economic development. There are two types of grants within this program: Opportunity and Enterprise grants, with Opportunity grants being capped at 10% of total annual funding and focusing on more specific areas such as community development and entrepreneur training, while Enterprise grants are intended for broader projects benefiting small and emerging rural businesses.
