The Deerfield River Enhancement Fund, established by USGen New England, Inc. (now Great River Hydro, LLC) in 1999, focuses on the environmental preservation of the Deerfield River Watershed. It supports new initiatives, one-time special projects, and outstanding existing programs. Projects may include volunteer monitoring, trail work, field trips, educational workshops, media campaigns, and improving public access sites. Managed jointly by the Vermont Community Foundation and the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts, the fund awards grants totaling approximately $14,000 to support its cause.
