The mission of the Virginia Environmental Endowment is to improve the quality of the environment by using its capital, expertise, and resources to encourage collaboration among all sectors to prevent pollution, conserve natural resources, and promote environmental literacy.
The Community Conservation Program funded by VEE targets conservation efforts within specific regions of Virginia, including Craig, Franklin, Giles, Montgomery, Pittsylvania and Roanoke counties, and the cities of Salem and Roanoke. The program is dedicated to initiatives that aim to protect and improve water quality, support land conservation, and enhance environmental literacy and awareness within these jurisdictions. VEE is open to considering parts of initiatives that may go beyond these geographic boundaries. The program invites proposals from any qualified organization but recommends submitting a brief letter of intent before a full proposal. Funding starts at $50,000, and the program is willing to support multi-year projects for up to three years. Proposals should align with the priorities of VEE and the Community Conservation Program and must include specific metrics for measuring success.
