to protect and enhance our natural resources; to provide a healthy, sustainable environment; to ensure the right of all people; to work with people; and in this partnership consider the future and generations to follow.
The broad goals of the DNR's grant programs are to enhance outdoor recreation opportunities by supporting various projects including the acquisition and development of local parks, acquisition of development rights, creation and maintenance of urban green spaces, and development along urban rivers. They manage both state initiatives like the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Local Assistance Grant Subprograms and federal programs such as the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and the Recreational Trails Program (RTP), focusing on expanding and preserving outdoor recreational spaces in both urban and rural settings.
