To promote the growth and development of plant biology, to encourage and publish research in plant biology, and to promote the interests, growth, and education of plant scientists in general.
ASPB's Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee offers Recognition Travel Awards to support individuals notably underrepresented in the US scientific workforce, which includes students, postdocs, and faculty who either belong to these minoritized groups or who significantly aid in the education and professional development of students within such groups. The grant aims to bolster diversity among participants at ASPB's annual meeting and facilitate access to scientific discourse and networking for those who might not have the opportunity otherwise. The award covers a comprehensive package for attending the ASPB annual meeting in Honolulu, HI, including travel, accommodations, event registration, a daily allowance, and ASPB membership through 2025. While submission of a research abstract is not mandatory for the award, recipients conducting relevant research are encouraged to present their work at the event. The program specifically encourages applications from undergraduate students, alongside graduate students, postdocs, and faculty members.
