The mission of the Cartography and Geographic Information Society (CaGIS) is to support and recognize academic achievements in the fields of cartography and geographic information science. It focuses on encouraging outstanding students in these disciplines and on the advancement of original research that elevates the fields of cartography or geographic information science.
The CaGIS annual scholarship awards aim to recognize and encourage academic excellence among students in cartography and geographic information science. The program awards scholarships to students who show achievement or potential in advancing the disciplines through original research. Specifically, CaGIS offers two Master’s Scholarship Awards of $1,000 each and two Doctoral Scholarship Awards of $1,500 each. Awardees also receive the opportunity to be interviewed and featured on CaGIS’s website and social media platforms, thus providing them with recognition and visibility within the community.
