Chinook Fund seeds community-led, systemic change by mobilizing resources for and trusting in grassroots social justice organizations across Colorado. With 35 years of impact, it has distributed $4 million to over 390 organizations, focusing on racial justice and supporting groups led by Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color.
Chinook Fund Grants aim to support grassroots social justice organizations in Colorado through financial grants and by integrating them into the state’s progressive social change movement. The funding opportunities are categorized into Start-Up Grants, for organizations less than 4 years old, with a maximum award of $4,000; Established Grants, for any group with a more competitive process and a maximum of $10,000; and Multi-Year Grants for established category applicants with a strong funding history. Priority is given to organizations engaged in community organizing, collaborative work, risk-taking initiatives, strategic long-term vision, achieving concrete success, and raising money from multiple community sources.
