The Classics for Kids Foundation (CFKF) aims to support young people, especially those at-risk and in rural areas, by providing matching grants for fine stringed instruments to enhance music performance education programs. They advocate for the multifaceted benefits of learning complex musical instruments, including improved self-discipline, academic performance, coordination, positive social interactions, and an appreciation of music's beauty. CFKF operates nationwide and has supported over 300 string programs across all 50 states.
The Classics for Kids Foundation offers matching grants to schools and nonprofit organizations that recognize the importance of fine stringed instruments in their music programs and exhibit a need and commitment to raising matching funds. Eligible instruments for the grant include violins, violas, cellos, double basses, ukuleles, and guitars. To qualify, applicants must demonstrate evidence of need and a commitment to raising matching funds, with grants not exceeding 50% of the total cost of the instruments.
