The Decolonizing Wealth Project is an Indigenous and Black-led racial justice organization. It envisions a world where racial equity is a societal norm, advocating for systemic change to ensure everyone can thrive and heal from colonial trauma. Through education, radical reparative giving, and narrative change, it aims to disrupt how capital is moved and controlled, striving for truth, reconciliation, and healing from colonization.
The Liberated Capital fund, under the Decolonizing Wealth Project, aims to fuel and amplify efforts to achieve reparations for Black communities in the U.S. through movement building and campaigns. This initiative supports systemic and policy change efforts in service of reparations, with a special focus on redistributing wealth (money or land) by institutions and/or governments. With a commitment to invest $20 million in the movement over the next 5 years, this program offers a new funding opportunity of $3 million for both current and new grantee partners engaged in advocacy for community-driven reparations efforts. This aims at providing untethered resources to support organizing and advocacy for reparations, leveraging the Decolonizing Wealth Project's platform to document and share the reparations movement. Approximately 25-30 organizations will be selected, with grant awards averaging $50,000 to $100,000, all evaluated by an advisory committee of Black leaders.
