Since its establishment in 1980, the Gilroy Foundation focuses on enhancing the quality of life within the community across various spheres. Through the provision of grants and scholarships, it aims for a positive and significant impact by supporting a wide range of initiatives, including children and family self-sufficiency, educational excellence, health improvement, cultural enrichment, environmental protection, and community cohesion.
The grant focuses on supporting the Performing Arts, including dance, music, opera, theatre, musical theatre, stagecraft, and costume/makeup, aiming to make a significant impact on the community. The selection process puts emphasis on programs that contribute to the Performing Arts, projects that have the potential to become self-sustaining, the degree of local volunteer involvement and backing by the organization’s board, and the fiscal responsibility and management qualifications of the organization.
