The grant program from the Hampton Roads Community Foundation is designed to support major capital projects and campaigns that have a transformative impact on the organization and the communities it serves in southeastern Virginia. The Vibrant Places facilities grants focus on projects in areas such as Health & Wellness, Environmental Stewardship, Educational Success, Cultural Vitality, and Economic Stability. A key goal is to support projects that lower operating costs for local nonprofits in the long term and minimize negative environmental impacts from construction and operation, with an emphasis on "green" building practices that reduce heating, cooling costs, save water, and lessen pollution.
