Since 2004, Many Hands has focused on supporting nonprofit organizations that assist women, children, and families in socioeconomic need within the Washington, DC area. By granting more than $2.5 million over the years, their mission emphasizes economic empowerment, education, health, and housing, aiming to strengthen community support through impactful financial assistance.
The Many Hands Grants program is designed to provide considerable financial support to well-managed, financially viable local organizations that demonstrate effective program services benefiting women, children, and families facing socioeconomic challenges. The program annually awards four grants, including a $100,000 Impact Grant and three Partner Grants, with amounts depending on yearly fundraising results (e.g., $67,000 each in 2022). These unrestricted funds can be applied towards operating, program, or capital expenses. The grant focuses on areas of economic empowerment, education, health, and housing, funding initiatives that improve economic security, educational opportunities, health and safety outcomes, and address homelessness or housing instability.
