At the Hyde Family Foundation, we are enthusiastic champions of our hometown of Memphis and committed to doing our part to create a thriving, unified city for all.
The National Council of Nonprofits defines capacity-building as "whatever is needed to bring a nonprofit to the next level of operational, programmatic, financial, or organizational maturity, so it may more effectively and efficiently advance its mission into the future. Capacity-building is not a one-time effort to improve short-term effectiveness, but a continuous improvement strategy toward the creation of a sustainable and effective organization." Only current Hyde Family Foundation grantee organizations that have completed a capacity assessment with Tennessee Nonprofit Network (formerly Momentum Nonprofit Partners) in the last 18 months may apply for capacity-building grant funds. Organizations may apply for direct capacity-building support that addresses a gap identified in their assessment. For example, requested funds could help the organization develop a strategic plan, succession/business continuity plan, board development plan, fundraising plan, non-discrimination policies, etc. Funding may be used to support consultant fees that help address capacity-building needs.
