    The Independence Foundation's grant program focuses on multiple critical areas:

    • Arts and Culture: It supports the arts as a means to enhance community well-being, with grants that back programs aimed at both traditional and non-traditional participants, enhancing access to and awareness of the arts. It prioritizes creative work, community involvement, artistic merit, and leadership.
    • Health Care: The Foundation awards grants to expand quality primary care, improve health outcomes, reduce health disparities, and support health policies and infrastructure, particularly through nurse-managed health centers and programs for older adults.
    • Human Services: Funding is directed at community-based organizations providing essential services to those with limited access, with a focus on food, housing, and support for individuals living with disabilities, aiming to foster self-sufficiency among the less advantaged.
