The mission of Indiana's initiative surrounding the Employer Training Grant (ETG) is to help fill over one million job vacancies expected in the next decade. This effort is aimed at bolstering the state's workforce by providing financial incentives to employers for training, hiring, and retaining workers in high-demand fields, thereby addressing critical labor shortages across various industries.

    Overview

The Employer Training Grant (ETG) program aims to address the looming challenge of filling more than one million jobs in Indiana over the next ten years. This program is specifically designed to support Hoosier employers by reimbursing them for the costs associated with training new or incumbent workers to take up in-demand positions. The grant supports jobs within six priority sectors, reflecting the areas with the highest need for skilled labor. Employers can receive up to $5,000 for each employee who is trained, hired, and retained for at least six months, with a maximum of $50,000 available per employer. This initiative not only aims to fill immediate job vacancies but also strengthens the overall workforce by ensuring that workers are trained for high-demand roles.
