NASA explores the unknown in air and space, innovates for the benefit of humanity, and inspires the world through discovery.
The grant from NASA's Earth Science Division (ESD) supports the Modeling, Analysis, and Prediction (MAP) program, which is focused on advancing the understanding of the Earth as a dynamic and integrated system. The program aims to develop representative models and observation/model syntheses to comprehensively portray the Earth system, with the ultimate goal of utilizing these models and syntheses to answer critical questions about the Earth. The MAP program's efforts are organized around four key strategies: pursuing Earth system science; focusing on observation-driven modeling; applying models and observations for Earth system characterization, diagnosis, prediction, and observing system design; and using models and model/observation syntheses to provide societal benefits.
