    Overview

This grant program aims to address the critical yet under-observed component of the Earth's system - seasonal snow. It recognizes the importance of snow cover and snow water equivalent (SWE) in the context of climate change and their significance to the global water cycle and societal water demands. The program encourages proposals to either advance remote sensing techniques for estimating SWE or to explore the changing dynamics of snowpack, particularly snow melt, using data from the SnowEx multi-year field experiment. The grant emphasizes the development of capabilities that are applicable on a global scale.
